How to Spend Your Downtime Wisely and Increase Productivity?
Sharing my personal tips..
I often find myself wondering if I could add a few more hours to my day. No matter how fast I run, I am unable to accomplish all of my tasks at the end of my day.
Finally, I realized if I use my downtime wisely, I can make things work and improve the quality of my life.
No, I am not a geek! But I am always on the lookout to be more productive and be able to get done with things as a full-time mom and a part-time content writer.
Some people use their downtime to catch up on their reading. At the same time, others like to take a nap or go for a walk. There is no wrong way to do it.
However, I would like to highlight and share my personal tips to help you spend your downtime wisely and increase productivity.
1. Get things in order
The first step to a successful and stress-free life is getting your home and workspace cleaned up and organized. You don’t have time for that? Don’t worry about being perfect. Just make sure everything has its place, so there are no distractions or lost items while trying to focus on a project.
It will help reduce the chaos by getting all those little tasks done beforehand so they don’t pile up on top of one another during busy times.
2. Your Brain Needs to Relax
All work and no play will make you cranky anyway.
When you’re constantly overloaded with stress or pressure from managing your business. Or any other job. You are most like to collapse at one point. Your brain needs to rest to function at its best.
A study showed how people who took their midday break were more productive than those without one.
And if they’re sitting down for long periods at work, standing up every hour or so helps keep blood flow active while reducing pressure on joints.
3. Consider Volunteering
Volunteering can be a rewarding experience that benefits not only yourself but also others.
If you volunteer and spend your time with the less privileged in order to improve the community. It can be an incredible journey as it will make you feel a part of something bigger than you are.
4. Learn a New Skill
Learning something new is not just for the thrill of exploration, but there are plenty of reasons why you should always be learning.
So, find your interests and keep learning. Learning eventually enhances the quality of your life. Sometimes, challenging yourself can help you achieve great results.
5. Your Health Comes First
You don’t need to hit the gym for hours every day. But any type of movement is better than nothing. After all, physical activity can alleviate stress and even increase your productivity.
So maybe you could get up during lunchtime or take five minutes after dinner to gain these benefits?
